Sneak peak Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen tonight, new McKinney restaurant from Johny Carros and former Stephan Pyles’ chef Jonathan Thompson
Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen officially opens for business on Wednesday, June 24, but you’re not the general public, are you? VIPs like you (and anyone else in-the-know) can be among the first to dine at Sugarbacon tonight, June 23, when the downtown McKinney restaurant quietly opens for dinner.
Former Stephan Pyles chef Jon Thompson has assembled a menu of deliciously affordable plates, ranging from a brined Berkshire pork chop to pan-seared wild salmon to a killer cheeseburger constructed with Local Yokel Wagyu beef, candied pork belly “sugarbacon” and Empire Baking Co. bun and mild cheddar cheese. Barman Sean Connor (Pie 3.14) created the cocktail menu. Former Jasper’s GM Johnny Carros runs the FOH, and Thompson runs the line. The space is sleek and sexy, too, with dark woods, exposed brick, Edison bulbs, tall ceilings and a misted outdoor patio.
I VIPreviewed the menu last week and came away mightily impressed. I think you will, too.
