First Look: New Addison restaurant Mesero, from Mico Rodriguez, opens Wednesday

Veteran restaurateur (and Mi Cocina founder) Mico Rodriguez is set to officially debut his newest Mesero restaurant this Wednesday, but I’d bet if you pop by on Tuesday, they may be open. Rodriguez held a VIP preview last week, where the Hatch crew got a first look of the space.

Sleek and bright, the 7,000 square-foot restaurant pulses with energy. Rodriguez told me he and his partners, Ryan Rogers and Matt Fleeger, spent nearly $4 million rehabbing the former Jake’s (and California Pizza Kitchen) with a gleaming new kitchen, sparkling glass tiles, comfy seating, and – best of all – a fabulous back patio that overlooks a fairway at Prestonwood Country Club. At night, fireflies and tiki torches lend a bit of flair.

The menu tracks the Dallas mothership’s and includes a wide variety of from-scratch Tex-Mex and includes the Rose burger, Rodriguez’s double-meat, double-cheese spellbinder.
