Cotes du Coeur: Your Name on a Nationally Distributed Wine
In the movie Sideways, the character Miles runs on about Pinot Noir and unwittingly compares himself to the grape when he says, “temperamental, thin-skinned, ripens early.”
Most of us would rather be like Champagne— light, bubbly, and always ready for a celebration. There may not be a wine that exactly fits your personality, but you could leave your mark on a bottle of premium wine–if you are top bidder for the Evening Land Vineyards auction package at Cotes du Coeur.
The winning bidder of the Evening Land package gets to design a wine label that includes his or her name, and the wine will be featured in luxury restaurants and specialty stores across the country. All proceeds sales of the wine will go towards the American Heart Association. Gretchen Nelson, Project Manager for the Once Wines division of Evening Land Vineyards, says that it’s the first time the winemaker has offered this type of unique package for a charity auction.
There is no reason to worry about putting your name on a mediocre product because your wine will have been crafted following the quality process of the Once program, where the winemaker develops the wine with input from some of America’s top sommeliers. As a bonus, you’ll also get to keep two cases.
Evening Land winemaker Sashi Moorman is coming to Dallas for Cotes du Coeur, so would-be wine label designers can talk shop with him about their high-scoring Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. It’s not too early to start thinking about what sort of statement you might make with your very own wine label, and be prepared to make your mark at Cotes du Coeur on April 10.
Cotes du Coeur benefits the American Heart Association, and the Gala event will be held at the Hilton Anatole on April 10. For more Cotes du Coeur information, visit www.dallaswineauction.com.
