Cabernet and Merlot: It’s What’s for Breakfast
<p>I love wine. But not at breakfast. That’s why my new favorite adult beverage is a grape juice that’s all grown up.
It’s called First Blush, and its like drinking the first press of really ripe Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Because that’s what it is. Really. 100% Cabernet juice, sourced from California Cab Sauv, no sugar added. It’s juicy-sweet, like Welch’s grape juice, with a hint of tart. And then comes a wave of blackberries, deep blue fruits, even a hit of red apples. The Syrah–made from 100% Syrah grapes from California–is equally wonderful. There’s also a Merlot and Chardonnay, if your taste buds lean towards those varietals, and a couple of blended teas.
I discovered First Blush in a high-end market in Kansas City last week. Right now, the company lists Randall’s, a grocery sibling of Safeway/Tom Thumb, as the only retailer in Texas, but Whole Foods Markets in other regions carry it. I paid $2 for each 11.5 oz bottle.
Karen Lukin, PR Maven at Whole Foods, can you please start selling it in Dallas?
