Radar Range: Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse Coming to Dallas
Restaurateur Tilman Fertitta and his Landry’s Restaurants group are said to be inking a deal to bring thier Vic & Anthony’s steakhouse concept to Dallas this fall, where they are negotiating to inhabit the old Sushi Samba space in the Dallas Galleria.
The original Vic & Anthony’s is in Houston, with a second location in Las Vegas. Can Dallas support another high brow steakhouse? Fertitta apparently thinks it can. So do I.
Though I’ve never eaten at Vic & Anthony’s, I remember when their executive chef, Carlos Rodriguez, left Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in Dallas (where he was top toque) to lead the Vic & Anthony’s kitchen when it debuted. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rodriguez head back to Dallas to open the new location.
Not familiar with Landry’s? Here’s a little bit about them, taken from their Website:
Since Tilman Fertitta became chairman of the board, president, chief executive officer and largest shareholder of the company in 1986, Landry’s Restaurants, Inc. has grown tremendously, with nearly 300 restaurants in the United States.
The Company was listed fifth on Forbes magazine’s list of 200 Best Small Companies in America in 1994, 11th in 1995 and 63rd in 1996. Business Week magazine listed Landry’s among the “Top 100 Companies for Growth” two consecutive years, while Restaurants and Institutions magazine cited it as “One of 1995’s Top Growth Companies.” Restaurant Business listed Landry’s as number four of the top 50 restaurant chains based on corporate profit margins.
