Eating the Road: Texas Monthly’s BBQ Festival Last Weekend

, Texas Monthly Magazine hosted 19 of the top BBQ joints that food editor Pat Sharpe and her team called the Best in Texas in TM’s feature article last year. All 1200 tickets sold out the first day they went on sale for the Austin event–and that was months ago.

EscapeHatchDallas State Fare editor June Naylor was there. So was I. Watch this, and you can be, too. Well, without the smoke. And just a taste of the flavor. My favorite? Louis Mueller’s brisket. Salt, pepper, post oak, and lots of Low and Slow love.

The Cue Fest was the best dine-around ever. And tickets were only $15, which basically meant all the bbq you wanted to eat from the best in the state. After sampling all that ‘cue, I can tell you without question that if  you think Texas barbecue isn’t the best in the world, you haven’t eaten at the right places.
