Sommelier Jason Hisaw Found a Pinot Noir You Should Know About

Ever wonder what it would be like to be able to have your very own Pinot Noir label?

But not just in one part of the world, but from four different parts of the globe. Businessman Mark Tarlov did just that.

After spending years as a movie studio contract negotiator, producer, and director, Tarlov has turned his attention to producing  Pinot Noirs from several different countires under the Evening Land Vineyards label.

Tarlov has put together some of the top producing areas in California, Oregon, and Burgundy with assistance with some of the world’s best winemakers. Evening Land now grows estate Pinot Noir from several highly acclaimed terriors—the Sonoma Coast (the Carl Myers Vineyard and the Occidental Vineyard), Santa Rita Hills (Looking Glass Vineyard in Santa Barbara County) and in the Willamette Valley of Oregon (Seven Springs Vineyard in the Eola Hills). With winemaker Dominque Lafond from Burgundy consulting on the Oregon projects, and winemaker Sashi Moorman on the Calfornia projects, Tarlov is changing the scene in Pinot Noir.

The 2007 Evening Land Seven Springs Vineyard from Eola Amity is one of the company’s gems. It’s bright bing cherry,  hints of cocoa and vanilla rounding out an elegant Pinot Noir. The flavors swirl around in your mouth with every sip. I found a few bottles at Pogo’s on Lovers for about $42 a bottle. This is a must-try bottle for any Pinot lover.
