Baking Expert & Author Alice Medrich is Teaching Tonight in Dallas

Baking expert (and cookbook author) Alice Medrich is in town, baking up a storm at the Dallas Central Market at 6:30 tonight. A few tickets are still available; snag one here, where $65 buys you a seat, samples and a copy of her newest bakebook. (Her book Cocolat is one of my favorites.) If you like truffles, you can thank Medrich, who basically  introduced America to the confection in 1973.

From CM:

This award winning baker and author of five dessert cookbooks has turned her detailed attention to the simple cookie. Her approach is to focus on the texture and flavor of cook ies, while reducing the butter and sugar used to create these bite-sized works of art. Enjoy her demonstration and explanation of these techniques as you sample:

Chewy: My Ginger Cookies;
Gooey: Robert’s Brownies;
Crispy: Ultra-thin Chocolate Chunk Cookies; Crunchy: Holiday Cornmeal Biscotti; and
Melt-in-your-mouth: Peanut Butter Clouds.
