Lisa Garza to Open Sissy’s Southern Kitchen Next Month

Remember waaaaay back in August when I told you that Lisa Garza had just leased the old Hector’s on Henderson space (which she then denied)? Well, seems she was mistaken. Comes word from her publicist that Ms. Garza is set to open Sissy’s Southern Kitchen, and she’s placed her former Suze partner, chef Jeffrey Hobbs, over the giant fryolator. The 100-seat Southern-styled restaurant and bar opens sometime next month, with brined, buttermilk-battered fried chicken front and center. Corn fritters, fried okra and oysters will be popping out of frying pans, joined by their friends gumbo, chicken waffles and short ribs.  (Wonder if Hobbs will have to wear one of Garza’s custom aprons) In related news, Tim Byres’ Chicken Scratch is progressing along on schedule. Love me some fried chicken.
