Chef Tim Love’s new Woodshed Smokehouse, on the banks of the Trinity River in Fort Worth, is off to a great start. I visited on opening night to see if the early buzz was right. It is.

Nice place, cool riverside setting, good vibe, interesting menu (even if you’re a vegan). The guy can cook, too. Almost everything is imbued with a light touch of wood smoke (mesquite, hickory, oak or pecan). I’ll have more to say about this place after a few more visits, but my first impression: Go.

(Your best bet: Sunday Supper, where Love says he’ll throw down a big buffet with grilled and roasted meats and veggies for just $20.)
