ABOUT THE MIRACLE PLAYERS FOUNDATION
The mission of Miracle Players is to address the medical and emotional needs of pediatric cancer patients via musical theatre and arts programs. They strive to brighten the days of hospitalized children and their families and raise funds to support childhood cancer research. MPF hosts three very influential programs that illuminate the innate theatricality within the patients and their families. The Miracle Players Camp gives participants the opportunity to participate in acting games, make costumes and sets, and perform their own acts. The Hospital Headshots program speaks to the idea that everybody loves a chance to feel glamorous. MPF strives to facilitate that idea by bringing in professional photographers to capture the beauty of the patients and their families. Finally, the most recent addition to the MPF creative programs is the Stars-in-a-Box program, which aims to donate trunks containing a karaoke player, family friendly disc sets, and costumes to pediatric oncology department playrooms across the country. The current recipient of research funding is the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
ABOUT PEACE, HOPE, & BUTTERFLIES
Last May The Miracle Players Foundation hosted its first Peace, Hope, & Butterflies family fun festival. The event was a great success boasting 300 attendees and raising $8,500 for childhood cancer research at Children’s Hospital. From May through December of 2011 MPF raised additional monies and presented Children’s Medical Center with a check for $25,000. The ultimate goal for 2012 is to quadruple last year’s donation, raising $100,000. Currently, MPF has raised approximately $23,000 but hopes to reach their goal with the kick-off party and second annual Peace, Hope, & Butterflies festival. The festival will be held on June 2, 2012 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Flag Pole Hill in Dallas, Texas. With the help of sponsors including Children’s Medical Center, The Mason Bar, Plan B PR, T-Shop, and Wings of Hope, MPF hopes to meet their goal through an afternoon of festivities. There will be plenty of fun for the entire family including pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce house, rock climbing, face painting, live entertainment, and more. Additionally, seven very generous people (thus far) have volunteered to have their heads shaved by and in support of childhood cancer patients. Their locks will be lovingly cropped off for all to see at 5:00 p.m.! Plus, you will have the opportunity to witness the release of 500 butterflies by area childhood cancer patients. Admission is FREE!
Some ways that you could help MPF reach their goal include:
-Miracle Players Foundation Sponsorships: $250+
-Butterfly Sponsorships: $15 each
-Support-a-Shavee donations: from $25+
-General Donations
