Beasts will be roasted at Meatopia

We hear that Meatopia, the caveman celebration of all things Paleo (well, except veggies and that pesky rule about no alcohol), is moseying down to Texas this year. Mark the weekend of November 1-3 on your calendar for the annual City of Meat, whose epicenter will be San Antonio’s Pearl Brewery downtown.

Look for chefs from NYC, Chicago, SFO and across Texas to be there, roasting whole animals, smoking meats, and cooking anything that once moved. Dallas chefs Matt McCallister, John Tesar, Tim Byres and Austin’s Paul Qui will be among the participants.

It’s one part butchery, two parts drinking, three parts general debauchery and four parts port-a-potties.

Details out soon. The big drawback–and it is a big, big, drawback: Meatopia Texas is slated for the same weekend as Chefs for Farmers, the annual Sunday celebration of chefs and farmers that Iris and Matt McCallister coordinate in Dallas.
