hey, it’s still under construction

The new restaurant under construction adjacent to Belly & Trumpet on McKinney Avenue is House 34, which owner Michelle Avila told the Hatch she expects to open on May 26. Avila previously managed the Old Warsaw restaurant in Dallas and has recruited chef Andres Bautista (formerly of Old Warsaw and Al Biernat’s)to run House 34’s kitchen.

Avila says House 34 will be open an “upscale, trendy restaurant” that’s open all day, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. The restaurant will serve such cutting edge and trendy dishes as beef tenderloin and sea bass for dinner, omelets and pancakes for breakfast. I can’t be certain, but I’d bet there will be salads (probably involving kale), soups, burgers and sandwiches available at lunch.

Big patio out front, lots of dark woods and limestone inside.
