Hot Date: Blue Mesa Grill Moves to New Addison Digs on July 26, Hosts Grand Opening Party August 21

Jim and Liz Baron opened Blue Mesa Grill in Addison 25 years ago, riding a wave of Southwestern flavor that swept through America’s restaurant scene. Their take was different, though, blending less familiar New Mexico ingredients (Hatch chiles, blue corn, fire-roasted salsas) with Texas cuisine.

Now, the original Blue Mesa Grill is trading its Village on the Parkway location for 14866 Montfort Drive, just across the street.  The completely remodeled, freestanding BMG opens July 26. And yes, the new Blue Mesa Grill will continue to serve weekend brunch an a $2 Reverse Happy Hour  after 10 pm on weekdays.

“Blue Mesa was one of the original tenants at Village on the Parkway (originally called Sakowitz Village),” Liz Baron wrote to EscapeHatch. “The (new) restaurant has many of the iconic Blue Mesa components that have created its identity – richly colored stucco walls, viga ceilings, a working fireplace, oversized metal door handles and railings, ‘aged’ wood window and door trim combined with modern glass doors, an exhibition kitchen and contemporary lighting.”

Blue Mesa’s 25th anniversary party is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21 from 4-10pm.

“The party will offer free food,” writes Baron, an EscapeHatchDallas contributor, “Churrascaritas (Blue Mesa’s signature grilled skewers), Street Tacos, classic Blue Mesa favorites, guacamole, flan and more.” Cash bar. Live music.
