The Hatch special ops crew took off to Stellenbosch and Cape Town this week to explore the South African wine country. What we’ve discovered so far has been a wine and food culture among the best in the world. Salt-pairing dinners, dozens of styles of Bordeaux and Rhone blends, plus Pinotages that rock and old white wines that roll. More to come, of course, but here’s a taste of how we started the day.

Schoon de Campanje, a bakery/coffee roaster/cafe in downtown Stellenbosch, is worth the flight –and every calorie. Everything handmade.
