Yum! Brands to launch new concept, Banh Shop, near SMU


Yum! Brands, parent company to cutting edge concepts such as Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut and newcomer Super Chix, will launch a new stealth Asian concept, called Banh Shop, on SMU Boulevard, says a loyal EscapeHatch reader who knows such things.

Banh Shop, a Yum! prototype bahn mi sandwich shop, will occupy a former auto repair shop near the intersection of SMU Boulevard and Prentice Street, just east of I-75.

Banh Shop and Super Chix, both test concepts, spring from the Yum! heads at the company’s Dallas-based New Concept team. Super Chix made quite a splash when it opened in April in Arlington, Texas.
