Hot Date: Think you make a better pad Thai than Pakpao? Chef Jet Tila want to battle you to find out on September 14
TV Thai chef Jet Tila, who recently revamped the menu of Pakpao, where Tila is now exec chef, is launching a Pad Thai “throw down” to launch the one year anniversary celebration of the Dallas Design District Thai restaurant.
From a press release, Chef Jet Tila — known widely for his appearances on Cutthroat Kitchen, Iron Chef America, and NBC’s new Food Fighters — is looking for five of Dallas’ best home Thai cook to compete against him and his famed Pad Thai as part of the restaurant’s celebratory anniversary festivities on September 14.
Interested Dallas home cooks should submit their reason why they should be chosen to compete against Jet, (along with any other compelling information – photos, video, etc.) to info@pakpaothai.com by September 1.
The five chosen amateur cooks will then battle each other at Pakpao and its neighboring sister restaurant Oak on September 14 at 4 p.m., with the winner chosen by a panel of celebrity judges. The winning home cook will then take on Chef Jet and his version of the classic dish.
Prizes will be awarded to all home chefs, with a grand prize dinner awarded to the best home chef. Spectators are encouraged and welcomed, and will be served up a portion of Jet’s version of the dish.
The anniversary celebration will begin early with Pakpao’s Bloody Mary Brunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with $5 Thai Bloody Mary’s.
In addition to brunch and the throwdown competitions, Chef Jet will lead a cooking class, open to the public, at 3 p.m.
Wonder if Tila makes a better pad Thai than this woman.
