Pollo Tropical closed all its DFW locations today. You’ll never believe what restaurant may replace them.

Say goodbye to Caribbean-influenced chargrilled chicken and a killer sauce bar. Dallas-based Fiesta said they planned to shutter all 30 Pollo Tropical locations in Dallas-Fort Worth plus all outlets in Austin and Nashville, Tennessee today.  The Pollo Tropical restaurants in Florida, Atlanta and 6 locations in south Texas would remain open.

EscapeHatch heard months ago that the company’s DFW locations were losing money and that nearly all of the restaurants’ locations were on the market for sale or lease. What will happen to those closed boxes? Fiesta said today that as many as five of the defunct Pollo Tropical units may become Taco Cabana restaurants, another Fiesta concept.

“Where possible, employees impacted by restaurant closures will be offered positions at nearby restaurants,” the company said in the release.
