Review: Fort Worth newcomer Americado brings a big taste of Mexico City to Cowtown with authentic cooking and fun Coeval Studio design
We didn’t expect to find some of Cowtown’s best Mexico City street tacos at Americado, but the al pastor — carved right from a spinning trompo into fresh corn tortillas — are hard to beat. But then so are their enchiladas mole, three delicate tortillas stuffed with spit-roasted chicken then ladled with dark, toasty, from-scratch mole poblano followed by a snowstorm of queso blanco and a tangle of tart pickled onions.
Dallas-based Coeval Studio created the look and feel of this casual salute to the Distrito Federal, adding pops of bright turquoise, eye-catching geometric patterns and big windows to let the outside in.
There’s nothing formal about the space or the service, which makes Americado a real charmer. Order from one of the stations (fish, chicken, cocktails), take a seat indoors or out, then sip a Margarita while you let the day slip away.
