Velvet Taco is opening another Dallas location! Here’s the intel.


Velvet Taco is taking its elotes, frozen margaritas, back door chickens and globally influenced tacos on a road trip.

The folks behind Velvet Taco — which should be called Platinum Taco, since they generate more dollars per square foot than nearly any other restaurant in America — are rehabbing the former Pollo Tropical space on Upper Greenville, just north of Mockingbird Lane, into a second VT Dallas location. We’ve been big VT fans since we broke the news about the first location in 2010.

An executive with parent company Front Burner Restaurants confirms the expansion, adding that the Velvet Taco brand is about to enter a growth spurt. “Wait till you see what we have planned,” he told the Hatch last week. “Velvet Taco is about to really take off.”
