KFC rolls out new crispy BBQ chicken that’s actually darn good

Launching today, KFC ups its barbecue game with extra crispy chicken tenders glossed with a bbq glaze that’s actually pretty good. The colonel sent some samples to Hatch HQ last week, and the team was mightily impressed. Each order of the new “Smoky Mountain BBQ”  chicken comes with either three extra crispy tenders or two pieces of extra crispy chicken, a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and a butter biscuit.

More glaze than sticky sauce, the bbq sauce reminded us of a slightly sweet version of Lawry’s seasoning salt, redolent of onion, garlic, celery salt and a slight kick of cayenne and black pepper. This may sound gimmicky, but the sauce is actually “finger licking good.”  Worth a try for $4.99.
