Sheraton Dallas downtown hotel unwraps 4 new restos, including one with a menu that actually looks great

Downtown’s Sheraton Dallas Hotel, the largest hotel in downtown Dallas, is currently undergoing a wall-to-wall renovation of all public areas, guest rooms, and meeting and convention space.

Part of the Marriott International brand, the hotel unveiled five new culinary offerings that revamp existing spaces into something slightly more compelling.  Three of the five food and beverage outlets have opened, and the additional two will open by early February.

Four of the five are throw-aways, only important to you if you are a guest at the hotel or stuck in downtown by some freak weather that locks you inside the hotel. One of the eateries, the all-day restaurant now called Open Palette– yes, palette not palate – is worth checking out based on the menu they sent me.

Roasted cauliflower with pesto and lemon greek yogurt, cheddar corn bread waffles with truffle honey butter, chicken schnitzel with arugula and fennel and grilled lemons? This menu sounds great. There’s also short rib pappardelle pasta, Nashville hot chicken and a cast iron-charred prime rib eye. That’s a seriously good dinner menu for a hotel…almost as good as Mesero’s.

If you’ve eaten at Open Palette, how was it? Sounds like I need to get there.

The Sheraton Dallas Hotel is located at 400 North Olive Street.
