Cafe Momentum and founder Chad Houser to appear on Rachael Ray show
A couple of weeks ago, a secret tv taping took place at chef John Tesar’s Knife restaurant. The kitchen buzzed with Cafe Momentum energy, as Tesar, Cafe Momentum’s founder and exec director Chad Houser, CM chefs Eric Shelton and Justin Box, and a few CM kids produced a made-for-tv brunch for the taping. The brunch mirrored the CM pop-up dinners we’re so used to seeing around town each month.
On Thursday, October 30, Houser will appear on The Rachael Ray Show to talk about the new permanent CM restaurant and classroom space opening in December 2014 in downtown Dallas at 1510 Pacific at Akard on Thanks-Giving Square. The segment, titled “Meet a Chef Who is Using Food to Change Lives” airs locally on KTXA-TV (Channel 12) at 10 a.m. Joining Chad and Rachael in the segment is actor Tom Selleck. It will include part of that secret brunch taping.
Café Momentum is a restaurant training platform that provides post-release paid internships for juvenile offenders through which they will receive intensive culinary, job, and life-skill training as well as continued mentoring and support to foster successful re-entry into the community. In addition to significantly reducing recidivism, Café Momentum creates opportunities for long-term, sustainable (legal) employment for a demographic that would otherwise continue to burden the justice system and taxpayers.
