New and improved, this is one of the best Nashville Hot chicken sandwiches in Dallas
Dallas sure isn’t Nashville, but that doesn’t mean the city doesn’t like hot fried chicken. Turns out Dallas-based Super Chix has just launched new! improved! fried chicken that’s nearly twice as big as the old bird.
Nick Ouimet (pictured), the founder and owner of Super Chix, says he’s plumped up his menu with half-pound never-frozen chicken breasts, which he hand-batters then fries in small batches to order. You can have it mild or Nashville Hot style (pictured above), which registers somewhere between medium spicy and incendiary.
Or hang out a few more days then try Super Chix’s new Cordon Bleu ‘wich, rolling out later this month.
More changes in store: Super Chix is the first DFW restaurant to use Martin’s potato buns, the same squishy soft buns used by Shake Shack. And Caleb’s Kola and Stubborn Soda are now Super Chix’s sole fountain drinks, displacing original Pepsi. Ouimet says Super Chix will be only the third restaurant brand in the country to offer the cane sugar-based, dye-free sodas. (I’m partial to the agave vanilla creme soda.) Prefer something boozier? Six microbeers and two wines are now served on tap.
The two-store chain is in a growth spurt, too: “We growing sales more than two percent every month,” Ouimet told me, adding that investors from all over the country (and a few from abroad) are knocking on his door to invest and come along for the ride.
A third Super Chix will open in July in the Cityline development, followed by “another store or two” in the DFW area, says Ouimet.
