Hot Joy, pop-up from San Antonio, has shut down
Barely three months old, Hot Joy is no longer a hot mess. Instead, it’s been iced.
The restaurant opened in July then unexpectedly closed over the weekend, sending its ramen and crab fat caramel wings back to its San Antonio home base, where the original Hot Joy continues to operate.
The Asian-themed Uptown Hot Joy had planned a two-year run as a pop-up concept, but Hot Joy Dallas found no love.
Front Burner restaurant group, which operated Hot Joy plus successful concepts such as the Ranch at Las Colinas, Ida Claire, Whiskey Cake Kitchen, The Keeper and 60 Vines, among others, told EscapeHatch that Hot Joy never quite caught on with the Dallas Uptown crowd.
They’re hoping for better luck with Legacy Hall, a huge food hall at Plano’s Legacy West development slated to open soon.
