Plano-based Fogo de Chão sold for $560 million, while Fireside Pies sells to a clucker

There’s always money in the banana stand. There’s also a lot of money in steakhouses and chicken shacks.

Plano-based Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão has been sold to a New York-based private investment firm for $560 million. Known for its Brazilian-style cuts of meat and ginormous salad bar, Fogo de Chão is gearing up to open an 11,000-square-foot flagship steakhouse near its headquarters at Legacy West, a half-block from two other prime steak palaces: Haywire and Del Frisco’s.

There must be good money in chicken, too, because Dallas-based Golden Chick  has purchased wood-fired artisan pizza chain Fireside Pies. This is the second recent time Fireside Pies has changed hands. (The PR company behind the most recent owner was not happy with what I wrote here about that sale).

Fireside Pies operates five locations in Dallas, Plano, Grapevine and Fort Worth, and plans to reopen its Inwood Road location following repairs from a fire a few weeks ago.
