Chez Dip, fancy French Dip place, has exited Legacy Hall after just six weeks – and other vendors have left, too

When chef Tom Fleming enthusiastically told us last November that he would soon be opening a French dip sandwich stall at Plano’s Legacy Hall food hall, we heard from plenty of readers who were equally excited. But six weeks after opening Chez Dip, Fleming rolled up his knives, packed up his banh mi rolls and said au revoir.

“We opened it up (on December 17), and people loved the sandwiches, which were really killer,” Fleming tells EscapeHatch. “But there just weren’t enough sales there to make the business work, so my partners and I decided to pull out.”

Chez Dip closed last Thursday, six weeks after it debuted.

But Fleming isn’t the only vendor to exit the food hall. Monkey King is gone. Insiders tell EscapeHatch that Glazed Donut Works hurriedly closed their shop a week ago Sunday and never returned. The Juice Bar is gone. And so is quesadilla specialist FAQ; that stall now contains Sea Breeze, which relocated from its second floor perch. A couple of other restaurant vendors are whispered to be exiting soon, too.

An executive at Legacy Hall says rejiggering the food hall’s tenant mix to keep their offerings fresh has always been part of their business plan.

The company is constructing an even larger food hall in downtown Nashville, which is slated to open later this year.
