Stephan Pyles Hosting August Fundraiser for Share Our Strength
Stephan Pyles has long been a tireless supporter of Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit working to end childhood hunger in America by connecting needy kids with nutritious food.
On Sunday, August 8, Pyles and five other chefs are creating and serving a multi-course meal (paired with wines) at a Share Our Strength fundraiser at Restaurant Stephan Pyles. He does this every year. This year’s slate of chefs includes Pyles, his execuchef Matt McCallister, their sous chef Maggie Huff, and three others: Teiichi Sakurai (Tei-An), RJ Cooper (formerly of Vidalia, Washington, DC), Celina Tio (Julian, Kansas City), and Ava Restaurant’s (Rockwall) Randall Copeland and Nathan Tate.
Of course, there’s going to be a live auction, which means a pre-dinner cocktail reception to get everyone’s wallets liquored up.
Here are more details:
Nearly 17 million children in America struggle with hunger. That’s nearly one in four kids at risk of hunger. Share Our Strength is working to end childhood hunger in the United States on a state-by-state basis through funding and coalition building. Through these efforts, they provide families with access to existing public and private programs like school breakfast and lunch, summer meals and food stamps. Since 2005, the national touring dinner series has raised more than $2 million.
