Chef Jeffrey Hobbs Out at Sissy’s Southern Kitchen

Good pick-up by Scott Reitz today, who uncovered that chef Jeffrey Hobbs had jumped out of the frying pan in a press release announcing lunch service at Sissy’s Southern Kichenwill begin September 18 (nbd).

Writes Reitz on the Dallas Observer site, “Hobbs confirms the split, saying he has fulfilled the promise he made to owner Lisa Garza when first opening the restaurant and is ready to move on to other things. He would say nothing else on the record…Chris Ostlund, who has been sous chef since the opening, has been promoted and will run the kitchen.”

Sissy’s was praised by several critics for its fried chicken. (I didn’t think it was all that cluck-worthy.)
