Houston-based Spec’s Wine & Spirits Opening at Walnut Hill and N. Central Expressway

<strong>Spec’s Wine & Spirits, based in Houston, is opening their first Dallas location in the space vacated by Toys R Us  at 9500 N. Central Expressway at Walnut Hill Lane and North Central Expressway, a spokesman for Spec’s confirmed.

The space is approximately 30,000 square feet, which Spec’s says is large for one of their stores but dwarfed by their Houston flagship’s 80,000 sf.

Spec’s is known for offering one of the states largest selection of wines, beers and spirits in a retail environment.

“It’s like a candy store for adults,” said  the spokesman, adding that, like many of its larger Houston stores, this first Dallas Spec’s will also sell specialty meats and cheeses, fresh roasted coffee, bar ware, wine glasses, and gourmet ingredients for entertaining and cooking.

The Spec’s is expected to open before Thanksgiving. Spec’s operates 50 stores in Houston and is looking to build a strong brand presence in Dallas.
