Did you miss Café Momentum’s Third Annual Pitmasters’ Barbecue? Uh oh.
Whatever you were doing yesterday, it probably wasn’t more delicious than what Chad Houser and his crew from Café Momentum were doing.
A crowd of about 250 turned out for Café Momentum’s Third Annual Pitmasters’ Barbecue at Slow Bone, Jack Perkins’ and Jeffrey Hobbs’ excellent barbecue joint near downtown. Houser says ticket sales and merchandise sales raised about $18,000 for the nonprofit CM.
Heavy hitters like Hutchins BBQ from Mckinney, Stanley’s Famous Pit Barbecue from Tyler, Lockhart Smokehouse from Dallas and Plano, and Heim Barbecue from Fort Worth joined forces with Louie Mueller ‘cue from Lockhart, Riverport BBQ in Jefferson, and Four Corners Brewery and Glazed Donut Works in Deep Ellum.
I was mightily impressed with the luscious, tender brisket from Hutchins, and with Jeffrey Hobbs’ biscuit sandwich, packed with bacon, apples and tender collard greens. I hadn’t eaten at Slow Bone in a while; now I look forward to remedying that quickly.
