Battle of the Bulge: Fairmont Pyramid Chef Andre Natera in Cook-Off vs. Exec Sous Paul Peddle
It’s Master v. Slave– Chef v. Sous Chef in a cook-off contest between Pyramid chef Andre Natera and the guy who really runs the kitchen, executive sous chef Paul Peddle. The two will spar in a four-course competition on December 9 in front of an audience of tasters (that’s you), who each eat the four course dinner. Unlike the chefs, you get to drink wine, each bottle chose by talented somm Hunter Hammett.
Natera and Peddle are each worthy contenders for a Super Hero title on their own. As a pair, they’re unstoppable. The last meal I ate there was Kryptonite.
The Fairmont Culinary Competition on Friday, December 9 will begin with a cocktail reception at 7:00pm in the Venetian Room at The Fairmont Dallas, followed by dinner at 7:30pm. Tickets are available for $100 per person.
The Fairmont’s spokesmodel sent me the Competition menu (which seems kinda like cheating, but, hey, they’re not my rules):
Butternut Squash Bisque with Spanish Chorizo En Croute
Heirloom Carrot and Local Goats Cheese Salad with Roasted Onion Vinaigrette and Fried Capers
Bleu Cheese and Mushroom Crusted Filet Mignon with Smoked Mashed Potatoes and Red Wine Cippolini Onions
Chocolate Pomegranate Pavé with Pomegranate Ice Cream
The Venetian Room at The Fairmont Dallas, 1717 N. Akard, Dallas, Texas 75201. For reservations, please contact Elena Duke at 214.720.5211 or elena.duke@fairmont.com.
