Hot Date: Spoon, new resto from chef John Tesar, to open November 9

“This is going to be fine dining in the classic sense,” says John Tesar, the chef and owner of Spoon Bar and Kitchen, under construction in Preston Center. “Waiters wearing ties and vests, quiet atmosphere, sophisticated service.” Tiny cocktail bar, huge oyster bar, even bigger chef’s counter.

Spoon opens for business Friday, November 9, but you can start making reservations through Open Table on October 29.

Spoon’s menu looks tight and sophisticated. Tesar says he’ll be cooking there every night. (There’s a lot more about this place in the November issue of 360 West Magazine, out next week.)

“I called it Spoon because it’s the only kitchen tool a chef can’t cook without,” Tesar told me. Even thought Spoon is a seafood-focused restaurant, a spoon  “reinforces the idea that everything here is cooked from scratch, by hand.”

Spoon will be open for dinner six days a week beginning November 9. Lunch will begin “right before Christmas,” says Tesar.

Spoon is located across from Hopdoddy, at 8220 Westchester Drive, Dallas
