The Fort Worth Food & Wine Festival winds down today, but it will be hard to top the Burgers, Brews & Blues event held yesterday at the former Edwards Ranch in Fort Worth.

Dozens of local burger joints and breweries served sliders and microbrews to a sold-out crowd of a few hundred. Each burger stand was bookended by a beer stand. Admission tickets included unlimited samples of burgers, brews and live blues music.

“We couldn’t have had better weather or a happier group of people,” Russell Kirkpatrick, the FWFWF’s director, told me as we walked toward AF+B’s burger stand where chef Jeff Harris was manning the grill.

“And next year will be even better,” offered June Naylor, one of the event’s organizers.
