Hot Date: Sigel’s annual California Cabernet tasting of 50 wines is Monday, October 6

Leave it to Jasper Russo at Sigel’s to make it really easy to wrap your arms around cabernet sauvignon, the king of grapes and the one varietal that every sommelier in town will tell you sells itself.

Sigel’s is co-sponsoring what’s billed as a Benchmark Cabernet Tasting, and it’s the single best wine tasting event of the fall season.

On Monday, October 6, from 5:30-8pm,  you can sample 50 different cabernets from California in one place– the Park City Club, 5356 Sherry Lane in Dallas — for just $55.

“There will be a particular emphasis on the great 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008 vintages as well as some remaining spectacular 2006 offerings,” writes Russo in an email to the Hatch. “The wines will be arrayed in a casual walk-around format so you can taste at your own pace.”

Teamed with heavy appetizers (beef tenderloin, cheeses, quesadillas), this is gonna be a terrific tasting. Sigel’s is also offering special pricing on bottles of the same wines to savor later. Winery reps will be there pouring and answering questions.

But to attend, you have to reserve in advance (Randy McLaughlin, 214-350-1271 or or Jasper Russo, 214-350-1271 or  Don’t miss this one. These tickets will sell out fast.
