Big State Drug in Irving reopens as 50s style diner Big State Fountain Grill on Monday, September 8

Big State Fountain Grill, will open Monday, September 8, serving the milkshakes, cheeseburgers and 1950s favorites that endeared its predecessor, Big State Drug, to local residents for years.

Owners Rick and Susan Fairless have doubled the size of the soda fountain & grill, added a candy shop, shaved ice, root beer on tap, plenty of ice creams and gourmet coffee. Big State will also sell gifts and greeting cards. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday.

The Fairless’ are Irving natives and residents; the couple own Strokers motorcycle parts and service in Dallas, plus its tattoo parlor and an affiliated bar and grill.
