Rodman Shields promoted to GM and exec chef of Common Table

Congratulations or condolences (depending on which side you sit on) to Rodman Shields, who recently joined The Common Table as their exec chef. Not content to control the back of the house, he’s now in charge of the FOH, as well.

“For years, I’ve heard him gripe about how GMs run the front of the house,’ his wife, Nora, a GM at Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse, told me recently. “Now he’ll get to see” it’s not as easy as he thinks.

Shields says he’s rolling out a new menu at The Common Table, a gastropub in Uptown Dallas, on December 2.  The new stuff includes a breakfast schnitzel with candied jalapeño bacon (pictured above), an open-faced meatloaf sammie (with burrata and a tussle of caprese salad) on rosemary focaccia, a beer cheese tenderloin sandwich, braised chicken pot pie, and for dessert, table-side S’mores and a strawberry rhubarb cobbler.
