Jay Jerrier sends proof that a Houston Cane Rosso is underway

Is Houston getting Dallasized?

Yesterday, taco fave Velvet Taco sent words and pictures revealing that VT was headed to Houston. Today, Jay Jerrier, the Godfather of Cane Rosso VPN pizzas, sends proof that he’s moving forward with construction on a Cane Rosso wood-fired restaurant in Houston’s Heights neighborhood. He expects to open around year’s end.

“Waiting for the Landlord to re-do the exterior,” Jerrier told EscapeHatch, sending us photos of the current exterior and interior shell. “Hopefully we’ll get the space in August or September for a January opening…depends on permits.”  The Houston Cane Rosso, the fifth in the CR pizza clan, will be located at 1835 N. Shepherd, a 4,000 square-foot site he’d been eyeing for a while. Like the Deep Ellum CR in Dallas, Houston’s first Cane Rosso will sport a full bar, a dog-friendly patio and a menu of housemade pastas, pizzas with hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes and sandwiches constructed with specialty sausages.

Jerrier says the space is in demolition mode now, and he sent the above pictures to prove it.
