Chefs for Farmers’ annual sous chef and bartender competition awards winners. Check out the action here.
Chefs for Farmers celebrated notable Dallas sous chefs and bartenders last weekend with their annual sous chef Mix-Off, a competition dine-around with sous chef-created food and craft cocktails.
It’s all part of the 2016 line-up for Chefs for Farmers, the annual food-and-wine festival that links chefs, food pilgrims, bartenders and farmers together. Brian Bell of Blind Butcher won the People’s Choice award for a house made sausage dish, while Sarah Green of the Joule Hotel took the judge’s award (I was on the judging panel, along with editors of D Magazine, Eater Dallas, the Dallas Observer, the Dallas Morning News, Dallas Voice and Zagat ) for her flaky, “Frito pie” hand pie. Henry’s Majestic took the trophy for best bourbon cocktail for its Makers Mark concoction. Parliament’s Patron cocktail won for best tequila drink and the People’s Choice award. Here’s a look at some of Sunday’s event.
