The best outdoor patio in Plano is on the roof at Haywire
The best patio in Plano has an airstream trailer, two bars, two televisions, one fire pit, one fireplace, comfy seating and occupies the entire third floor roof of Haywire, the Texas-themed ranch house restaurant adjacent to Legacy Hall. “The Haywire patio is open, so come on out,” says Judd Fruia, Haywire’s director of operations. “We’ve got the best weekend sunsets anywhere and all our wines are half price every Sunday.”
Haywire debuted with huge crowds last winter but kept the rooftop patio closed until the weather warmed up. Fruia says guests can order food in the outdoor airstream; small plates, cocktails and beers on the rooftop patio; and lunch, weekend brunch, dinner (which includes Haywire’s prime steaks) on the second floor balcony overlooking the new Box Garden at Legacy Hall. Legacy Hall is Haywire’s sister food hall complex of 22 restaurants, six bars and large community areas next door (I wrote about Legacy Hall for USA Today here.)
Fruia says the Airstream trailer is set up as a private dining room on the Haywire patio that can accommodate groups of up to twenty people. The Airstream trailer was fully refurbished inside and out by a respected rehab company then lifted to the third floor Haywire patio by an enormous crane during Haywire’s construction.
If Haywire’s patio gets a bit too breezy, make your way down to the Box Garden, where live music will be offered each night and the new Carlton Provisions BBQ will be low-and-slowing brisket, ribs and sausage to eat there or take home.
