Happiest Hour launches weekend brunch today, starring crab cake Benedicts and killer patio

Who could blame you for not knowing that the 18 block Harwood District, just west of downtown Dallas, is home to seven restaurants, including one with a killer outdoor patio?

That patio — with skyline views of downtown, three outdoor bars, a band stage and free valet parking — belongs to Happiest Hour, a terrific place to hang out as the weather cools. Want more swank than a sloping grassy knoll? There’s a second-story rooftop bar/patio that doubles as an ultra private room for private funtions.

I love the chic, rustic, high-key look of the Happiest Hour, with its private nooks for canoodling (or eating), well-spaced tables, horseshoe bar and lounge seating. Picture a grown-up Rustic and you’ll catch the vibe at Happiest Hour.

I was also impressed with my preview of the new brunch menu. The kitchen turns out Benedicts, shrimp and grits, nutella-topped pancakes and brekkie sandwiches that you’ll actually want to eat. And each of them is light on the pocket book, clocking in at less than $15.
