Once named to Esquire Magazine’s list of best bars in the country, owner Louse Owens sells her Windmill Lounge to team behind Ivy Tavern
“Big changes are in the works at Windmill Lounge, a bar once named one of the best bars in the country by Esquire Magazine for good drinks, good music and a fun crowd since it opened 11 years ago on Maple Avenue.” says an email sent to Hatch HQ this mornin.
Looks like owner Louise Owens has sold her beloved bar to Lisa and Tom Georgalis and their Triada Hospitality Group, which also owns Dallas’ Ivy Tavern.
“Rather than fully re-concepting the bar, the new owners want to embrace everything that’s already great about the Windmill Lounge. So the current hours will remain, as will the focus on classic and craft cocktails, music and the casual come-as-you-are attitude.”
Look for a new menu to launch in the next few weeks that includes pizzas, wings and salads. To wash it all down, cocktails will be joined by a revamped beer and wine program, ensuring that customers have plenty to choose from.
“We’re so excited to add the Windmill Lounge under our wing, a bar that we’ve been fans of for years,” say Lisa and Tom Georgalis in the release. “We want to retain that old-school, classic cocktail lounge feel, while updating the bar with some delicious menu options as well as a few cosmetic and tech additions, like a revamped patio and internet access. We hope that current patrons and plenty of new ones, too, will come join us as we aim to do the iconic Windmill Lounge proud.”
