Texas Pie Fest, the Most Eagerly Anticipated Pie Festival to ever hit DFW, hits the calendar for March 30!
Could any DFW event on March 30 be more eagerly anticipated than the brand-new, just-announced Texas Pie Fest?
Shhhhh, don’t tell the organizers that the end of March is often muddy and wet, or that it’s way too early for peach season, a bit too early for cherries, and too late for pumpkins and pecans.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t eat chocolate and rhubarb and wild blueberries, which are really better when they’re flash frozen in Maine and trucked down here to Costco anyway.
The one-day festival will celebrate pies in grand fashion: pie eating contests, live music, food trucks, pie tattoos, pie baking contests, and pie vendors like Bonafide Betties Pie Co., Royers Pie Haven, Come and Bake It, and Emporium Pies, and maybe even the world’s best cinnamon roll pie from Haywire (they sometimes pay their EscapeHatch ad with pies instead of cash, but we’re not complaining).
Organizers say all “pie activities” are $5-$10.
The action takes place at Tate Farms, the ranchy, farmy homestead of Melissa Tate and her family in Rockwall, about thirty minutes east of Dallas. TBH, I though Tate Farms was also Rapscallion chef Nathan Tate’s family’s ranch, but I’m not gonna pick a fight over horses, ‘tators, or pie.
