Rapture 2.0: Chef Samir Dhurandhar Celebrates the End of the World
By Mike Hiller
What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, so a couple of hundred people must be feeling pretty good this week, thanks to a Judgement Day special served by chef Samir Dhurandhar Saturday night at Dallas’ Nick and Sam’s Steakhouse.
“If the world is gonna end, you might as well enjoy the last few hours,” said Dhurandhar, serving his $120, 30-ounce, dry-aged rib-eye steak topped with seared foie gras, four strips of thick bacon and a coddled egg. By early evening, nearly every seat in the restaurant was occupied. Dhurandhar says many patrons were celebrating the Rapture in style, ordering the Judgement Day special, lobsters, big bottles of wine and more desserts than normal.
