Hot Date: Monday, August 20 — Big Pig Roast at Whiskey Cake Kitchen

Slide on your flip-flops and an Aloha shirt then head to Whiskey Cake Kitchen in Plano on Monday evening, August 20. Chef TJ Lengnick is throwing down Hawaii Five-0 style, with tiki torches, pupu platters, fresh ahi tuna snacks, fresh Hawaiian maui-mahi,  two big roasted pigs and plenty of side dishes. Even better: Sean Connor, one of the area’s top barmen, is mixing Bacardi cocktails for you to slurp, gratis.

“We’ll be slow-roasting two pigs all day Monday for the outdoor party that night,” says Lengnick. Two 80-pound hogs for 70 people means there will be a lot of crispy skin and smokey pork meat for those of us who snag a ticket to the dinner.

The luau starts at 8:30 p.m. on the patio. Even better than a Hawaiian mixed plate.

Reservations: 972-993-2253; $50 per person.
