Gemma, headed by former Napa Valley chef Stephen Rogers, to open December 26

UPDATE: According to Gemma’s publicist, the restaurant’s opening has been pushed back yet again, to December 26.

Lots of new and newsy restaurant news on the HatchWire this week.

Husband-and-wife team Stephen Rogers and Allison Yoder are opening Gemma, a farm-to-fork restaurant down the street from Veritas Wine Bar on Henderson Avenue, on December 18 26, says a Gemma insider who knows such things.

Rogers will be Gemma’s chef. Yoder will be Gemma’s GM. And Sabrina Snodderley, one of my favorite somms, will be Gemma’s wine director and sommelier.  Until recently, Snodderley served as the sommelier and wine director at Spoon Bar and Kitchen.

Before relocating to Dallas a few months ago (H/T Kim Pierce), Rogers was the executive chef at the three-star restaurant Press in St. Helena, California, where Yoder worked as the GM.

And there’s this stocking stuffer, too: Stephen Rogers is a former classical pianist and vocal coach. Allison Yoder is a former opera singer.
