Mansion on Turtle Creek restaurant celebrates James Beard Award nomination with 20% discount

Chef Bruno Davaillon received another nod from the James Beard Foundation: his Mansion on Turtle Creek restaurant was named a semi-finalist for this year’s James Beard Award for Outstanding Service.

To celebrate, the Mansion restaurant is offering a 2o percent discount off your food when you dine in the Mansion restaurant. That’s an incredible deal, given that Davaillon’s cooking ranks among the best in town. Go on a Thursday, when you can join cellar master Michael Flynn’s weekly “wine chats,” which take place at 6:15 and involve a $25 guided tasting through four wines sharing a theme. (I popped in last week, where Flynn was profiling the influence of malolactic fermentation on four different wines, from steely chardonnay made with no ML to a creamy, buttery sauvignon blanc (!) with 100 percent ML.)

“We want people to think of us as more than a special occasion restaurant,” Stephanie Hutson, the Mansion’s PR supermodel, told me last week. The Masnion’s dining room is casual and relaxed, with sharp service that warrants its Beard Award nomination.

In addition to a la carte selections, Davaillon offers four different multi-course tasting menus each night — including a vegetarian option. I could be quite happy with a plate of green lentils, peptitas and shaved Perigord truffles, but no way would I skip his rabbit with creamy grits and Shiner Bock sauce, all draped with a paper-thin curl of lardo. Throw in a 20 percent discount and Thursday feels like Saturday.

All that’s required for the dining discount is that you call for a reservation and mention the offer. 214-443-4747. The offer runs Sundays through Thursdays until March 31.
