Spotlight: With Cody Sharp as chef, The Standard Pour, in Uptown, proves it has moxie

<p class=”s2″>Now that Cody Sharp has taken the reigns at The Standard Pour, barman (and owner) Brian McCullough’s beloved McKinney Avenue speakeasy, the food more than ably matches the quality and creativity of the drinks at one of the city’s top cocktail dens.

Sharp, the former sous chef at Casa Rubia in Trinity Groves, is proving he has the moxie and talent to go far. If you follow him on Facebook, you know he’s turning out some tasty looking dishes.  If you’re lucky enough to arrive when his hot-and-spicy, Nashville-style fried quail appear as an evening’s special, you’ll understand why McCullough says Sharp is the only chef he considered for the job.  Every time I see a picture of Cody Sharp‘s food – like this roasted quail stuffed with wild rice, pecans and Italian sausage – I get hungry.
