Good Local Markets throwing chili cook at Vickery Meadow farmers’ market on Sunday, April 19


Think your chili is blue ribbon worthy? Or just like to eat other peoples’ idea of good chili? Then put the 5th annual Good Local Markets Chili Showdown on Sunday, April 19 on your calendar. Twenty teams will cook up batches of chile then serve samples at a pubic tasting from 1 till 3 pm at the cook-off, slated for Vickery Meadow Market (5803 E. Northwest Highway in the southwest corner of the Half Price Books flagship store parking lot).

The team entry fee is $25. Register at GoodLocalMarkets.org, or buy a tasting ticket ($5 at the door).

Good Local Markets operates three farmer’s markets in Dallas and includes only local growers and makers.

  • The Lakeside Market is held on the first and third Saturdays of the month at Lakeside Baptist Church (9150 Garland Road).
  • White Rock Market is held on the second and fourth Saturdays at Green Spot Market and Fuels (702 N. Buckner Blvd.) from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • The Vickery Meadow Market runs from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. every Sunday at Half-Price Books (5803 W. Northwest Highway).
