BBQ pit master Aaron Franklin will be John Tesar’s guest chef at Knife on June 1 – UPDATED with link to tickets

John Tesar is about to turn even more RED, which means the Twitter Universe is likely to explode.

Beginning on June 1 and running five consecutive nights, the soft-spoken proprietor and chef of Knife and Oak will host five different guest chef dinners, each with a different notable chef. First up: Austin’s Aaron Franklin, the front man of Franklin Barbecue. Franklin and Tesar will team up to cook a meaty dinner for what will definitely be a sell-out crowd. Reservations aren’t yet being accepted, but expect that to happen very soon.

Tesar tells me that subsequent dinners will include an A List of guest chefs:  Naiomi Pomeroy 0f Portland’s Beast restaurant, then Alex Strata (Tapas by Alex Stata in Las Vegas), Tim Rattray (The Granary in San Antonio) and Kris Morningstar (Terrine in LA).

It’s all part of (RED)’s new food movement campaign, EAT (RED). DRINK (RED). SAVE LIVES., which is raising money to fight AIDS and raise awareness for the disease. More than 500 restaurants, bars and food trucks in 120 cities are also participating in the (RED) campaign, which takes place during the first 10 days in June. Mario Batali is on board. So is singer Bono. And now, so are Tesar and Franklin.

No details on how to snag a seat at any of these yet, but we’ll have word soon.
